My name is Chef Anissa Hopkins, and I am a Personal Chef.
I started cooking when I was a very young girl. My mom would stand at the stove, and I would bang on the pots and pretend to be cooking or baking I was about 3 years old or so. As I grew up I became more and more interested in cooking and baking.
For Christmas Eve my mom always made Perogies, homemade, she would make the dough and the filling. It was the best part of Christmas Eve. To date my mom still makes homemade Perogies but now we use the regular filling as well as sweet potato filling. I learned to make Perogies from my mom.
I would see cookbooks and want to buy every one of them. I started to buy a cookbook everywhere I went.
My mom worked several jobs so I would help out by cooking for the family. I took cooking classes starting in 7th grade and I would be so excited to go home and make what I learned in school. For the holidays I would bake several things that I learned and some of them I still make every year. I love to cook, and I love to bake.
When I was 15, I went to Virginia with my parents on a trip and I found a great cookbook. I didn’t want anything else just the cookbook. I still have the cookbook and I still use it. The first thing I make from the book was a Rum Cake, and to be honest with you it was the worst thing I ever made. I put to much rum in it, but the adults loved it though.
My passion has always been to cook and bake. I love to create food for others to enjoy.
Through Tea Thyme I am able to help others have a wonderful, nutritional meal while relaxing and taking the stress out of your day. At the end of a long hard day, you don’t want to have to stand at the stove for an hour or so to make a meal when you are tired, and you are tired of the local fast-food place.
